“Let There Be Peace On Earth” has become one of the most widely sung peace songs.  Written in 1955 for the International Children’s Choir from Long Beach, California.  It has continued to be a fixture in the children’s music repertoire, though also sung in almost any kind of musical gathering imaginable.

The original version with the lyric “with God as our Father, brothers all are we” was officially updated to a gender-neutral version “with God our Creator, family all are we, let us walk with each other…”

Here is a 1962 version on Danny Kaye’s Christmas TV Special featuring Nat King Cole and Mary Tyler Moore.

This version of the song was performed in 2015 at an international interfaith encounter at the Ground Zero Memorial in New York by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
