PHILIP KAKUNGULU – PROFILE

Peacebuilding Mobilizer & Conflict Transformation Trainer | Uganda

Philip Kakungulu (known on the streets as Philipstargate) resides in Kampala, Uganda, with his wife Immaculate and their four children. A pastor and seminary graduate holding a Master of Divinity, with a major in Faith-Based Training in Conflict Transformation for Trainers, Philip is deeply committed to advancing God’s reconciling mission in a fractured world.

As founder and team leader of Crossing Lines Africa, and a founding member of the African Peace Warriors Network (established in 2013 as part of Global Peace Warriors), he serves as a peacebuilding mobilizer across the Great Lakes Region and beyond. Philip promotes peace-oriented theologies rooted in Scripture and facilitates transformative conflict training for faith leaders, communities, and emerging peacemakers.

His work extends extensively to refugee settlements and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. He collaborates closely with local faith leaders to heal trauma, foster reconciliation, and build sustainable peace, viewing every effort to mend individuals and groups as integral to God’s redemptive work in the world.

At the heart of Philip’s ministry is the conviction that peacebuilding is the core essence of the Christian faith. We participate in the Kingdom of God by actively pursuing shalom, peace with God, with ourselves, with our neighbors, and with creation. This all encompassing peace reflects the truth that every human being is deeply loved by God, and we are called to embody that love in our pursuit of justice, healing, and reconciliation.
