FOUNDATIONS OF CHRISTIAN PEACEBUILDING

In an effort to support and strengthen the wider peace building movement and the work of African Peace Warriors, Peace Catalyst International has partnered with Arusha Vineyard to use this course as the foundation for a regional gathering designed to (re)connect key leaders, deepen relationships, learn together, and strategize for greater collaboration and collective impact. This interactive training is built around the Global Peace Warriors workshop format and is specifically designed to address theological barriers within Christian communities that have hindered engagement in peace building efforts.
Keynote speakers:
We seek to confront and dismantle theologies of domination—those that have justified violence, exclusion, or passivity in the face of injustice—and instead nurture a renewed Christian imagination rooted in God’s reign of holistic and just peace. This includes the work of decolonizing theology: challenging inherited frameworks shaped by empire, supremacy, or individualism, and re-centering among others the gospel around Jesus’ call to solidarity, healing, and liberation.
This gathering will create space for African Peace Warriors to connect across contexts, share wisdom and resources, and explore how to more effectively mobilize Christian communities toward God’s mission of peacemaking, justice, and reconciliation.

This is a timely and much-needed initiative. Misconceptions within Christian theology have too often discouraged active engagement in peace and justice work. I’m glad this training will confront those barriers and help us reclaim a gospel rooted in healing, solidarity, and justice. I look forward to learning and connecting with fellow African Peace Warriors for greater impact.
